Rhianwen Gold

Our Leader

Rhianwen's love of orchestral playing began in her youth when she performed with various orchestras including Welsh National Opera and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales under the tutorage of Nona Liddell, Elgar Howarth and Christopher Adey.

She went on to read music, specialising in performance, at Royal Holloway University of London where she led the Royal Holloway Chamber Orchestra and was fortunate to work with John Woolrich, Thomas Ades and Emanuel Hurwitz.

After graduating, Rhianwen enjoyed several years as an upper strings teacher and orchestral tutor for Merthyr Tydfil, Norfolk and Suffolk County Music services before taking time out to start a family.

Now based in Suffolk, Rhianwen divides her time between family life, private violin tuition and playing with local orchestras and chamber ensembles which she enjoys enormously.
